I sent this to the email subscribers yesterday but I felt it was important enough that everyone should know.
Wow. March has certainly been a month, and we’re only halfway through. Two weeks ago I was wandering around the Rodeo, eating deep fried sugar and barbeque and preparing for a busy month of wine tastings, local festivals, and time with friends. Today I’m trying to live my life semi-normally while avoiding too many public places, stay informed without binge-watching the news. I imagine many of you are in the same position.
Whether you are going about your business and pretending like everything is normal, or you’re avoiding all contact with others, the fact is COVID-19 has disrupted our lives and it’s not going away any time soon. It’s hard to live in a world with so much uncertainty. My hope is that all of you and your families stay safe and happy for as long as it takes.
It’s important to take care of each other during this time and not spend all of our time worrying about things we can’t control. It’s way too easy to leave the news on all day and worry, but that doesn’t help anyone. So far I’ve had 4 festivals canceled and I worry more will be. I’m disappointed because I love getting to know y?all in person, but I understand. I’m taking the time I would have spent prepping for those events to read more about wine, experiment with recipes, and taking care of random tasks I normally don’t have time for. Hopefully this extra time will be a benefit for you in the form of more information, tips, recommendations, and community. Come on over and spend some time with me on The Sugar Vine’s Facebook page and let everyone know how you’re doing.
The website is also still open. If you have gift shopping to do, we have lots of great options. The blog also continues to bring you wine information, food and wine pairings, recommendations, and more. Come on over and check it out if you haven’t stopped by recently: www.thesugarvine.com
I want you to know that I’m doing everything I can to maintain a safe environment for you. All of my March wine tastings have been postponed; April wine tastings will be held if it is safe to do so or rescheduled if necessary. The online store is still open and is a great option to get your shopping done while avoiding stores. I am taking all of the safety measures possible, including:
1. I’ve always been a little obsessive about hand washing, but I am now washing my hands in between every order, and before and after touching any products
2. I am on my phone and laptop A LOT, so I disinfect them both regularly
3. Since online orders are shipped we don’t have to worry about social distancing. For those of you in the local area (Spring/The Woodlands/Tomball), I am also offering free local delivery. If you choose this option, send me a message before placing your order so I can give you a discount code to use. I’ll drop off your order at your front door within 24 hours and text you to let you know it’s there.
Never hesitate to reach out for anything you need- you can hit reply or message me on Facebook. I always say wine people are the best people and that’s never been clearer than in times like these.
